Rosacea Cream Information
Rosacea is a condition characterized by facial redness. Oftentimes, this condition starts with the redness around the center of your face and slowly spreads to the cheeks, nose, neck, chest and ears. But, having rosacea doesn’t mean that you are stuck to having a red face forever!
Today, there are many medical treatments available for rosacea. One of these treatments involve the use of specially formulated rosacea cream. You have to remember that your treatment is dependent on your preference and skin condition and you might want to get a rosacea prescription cream specifically tailored for your needs from your doctor. Similarly to when your shopping for cosmetics you do not want any cream that are too strong or contain alcohol. Additionally if you also have acne, which does happen, you want to pay special attention that your anti acne treatment does not interfere with rosacea because many of these creams are too strong for the skin of those afflicted by rosacea and it ends up making the redness even worse.
An especially popular rosacea cream to deal with Rosacea is Zenmed. It is pretty much impossible to COMPLETELY cure rosacea permanently but it is POSSIBLE to reduce the symptoms a lot using creams. I won’t copy the features of the zenmend rosacea cream on this blog (just go to there website linked earlier if you want to see) but it is a very effective cream that has been on the market for many years. They promise results between 1 to 3 weeks of usage as outlined on their website. After dealing with rosacea and looking for possible treatments I did find a lot of information on creams so here’s a bit of history and information on rosacea creams that might help you understand the details behind their creation!
During the 80’s, topical metronidazole has paved the way in discovering various treatments of rosacea. Among the early rosacea creams available, metronidazole has proven to be the most effective. Metronidazole is described as a kind of antibiotic that treats inflamed skin and kills bacteria that causes infection.
Like all medicines, this also has some side effects. Among the popularly reported side effects of this rosacea cream is skin dryness, itching, burning or stinging sensation. Metronidazole cream works better in suppressing the relapses of rosacea as compared to taking oral antibiotics.
As the years passed by, another kind of medication in cream and gel form has shown better performance in treating rosacea. In fact, in the year 2003, finacea gel was brought in the market and was greatly accepted by the masses. The main ingredient of this rosacea cream is azelaic acid which comes from wheat, rye or barley. When you compare it to other treatments, finacea is more effective. Actually, studies show that although finacea was far better in reducing redness of the face, metronisazole produces fewer side effects and irritations.
When you examine these two creams, you will notice that both have their respective advantages and disadvantages. So it is all up to you to decide on which to use. But, if you are still unsure, it is best to visit a dermatologist for better assessment. The various creams frequently used to treat rosacea are detailed below:
1. Green Tea Cream: It contains an extract of green tea leaves called polyphenone. It is particularly helpful in reducing the symptoms of papulopustular rosacea.
2. Vitamin B3 Cream: It contains vitamin B3 in the form of Niacin Amide. It is known to increase the moisture level of the skin, thereby reducing inflammation and preventing flare-ups. Recently, various rosacea-centric cosmetic products fortified with vitamin B3 have become popular.
3. Golden Chamomile Cream: It contains a plant extract named “Chrysanthellum Indicum” which is known to optimize the health of facial blood vessels, resulting in reduced redness.
4. Metronidazole Cream: It is a topical antibiotic which is regularly used in the treatment of rosacea. It is a potent anti-inflammatory and is known to significantly reduce the symptoms of the chronic skin disease.
5. Azeliac Acid cream: It is extracted from Gluten. It is known to have powerful anti-microbial action. Recent studies have shown that Azeliac Acid is more effective at controlling the symptoms of rosacea than Metronidazole.
When you look for the perfect cream for your rosacea, make sure to buy a cream that will work well with your skin. You need to remember that some creams may cause adverse reactions to your skin especially when used over a long period of time. This is also important to remember if your looking for rosacea cosmetics to temporarily cover the redness. So be careful and observe how the cream performs. If cream does not work for you, you might want to consider taking oral antibiotics such as tetracycline or minocycline. These oral antibiotics are usually taking once or twice a day for a period of up to 2 months. Finally another rosacea treatment option is laser surgery so if rosacea cream does not seem to help well there’s plenty of other treatments to consider!
